Question:
Assalamualaikum,
Hope you are well by the infinite mercy of Allah. I have 2 questions –
1. What is the creed of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaat regarding the Ummahatul Mu’minin? Will they remain in Paradise as the wife of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)? I would be very helpful to know with reference.
2. Can we creed about all the Companions except Mubashshara that they will be certainty Paradise? Because at present some young brothers are not willing to accept it. What is the belief of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaat in this regard? I would be very helpful to answer two questions with reference. Jazakallah Khairan…
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1- A man will be with his spouse in Jannah. Allah Ta’ala tells us describing the bounties of the people of Jannah;
Enter the Paradise, you and your spouses, showered with bliss. (Surah Az-Zukhruf, Ayah 70)
Similarly, The Prophet ﷺ will also be with his wives, Ummahaatul Mu’mineen in Jannah. It is mentioned in a Hadith,
“Ḥudhaifa (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) told his wife, ‘If you love to be my wife in Jannah, do not marry after me, for verily, a woman will be with her last husband with who she was in this world. It is for this reason that the noble consorts of Nabiﷺ were prohibited from marrying after him, so that they could enjoy his blessed company in paradise.” (Sunan al-Kubrā, 7/69)
2- Allah Ta’ala has promised Jannah for all the Sahabah (Radhiallahu Anhum); the 10 blessed Sahabah, those who spent and fought before and after the conquest of Makkah, Ahlul Bait (the family of the Prophet ﷺ) but their ranks in Jannah varies.
Allah Ta’ala mentions;
“As for the first and foremost of the Emigrants (Muhajirin) and the Supporters (Ansar) and those who followed them in goodness, Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Allah, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will live forever. That is the supreme achievement.” [Towba 9:100]
Those (able-bodied) believers, who sit (at home) without having any (valid) disabilities are not equal (in rewards and ranks) to those (believers) who strive hard and fight in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah ﷻ has preferred in grades and ranks, those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah ﷻ has promised the best [Jannah], but Allah ﷻ has preferred, by great rewards, those who strive hard and fight (above those who sit at home). (4:95)
In the above verse, both groups of Sahabah, Allah ﷻ has promised for them Jannah.
These verses and many more, mention the great merits and virtues of the Sahabah. These verses apply to all Sahabah; therefore none of them should be abused; this will endanger Imaan. Such an attitude to Sahabah will eradicate the greatness of Sahabah from hearts and thus one will become deprived of acting upon the teachings of Islam, which were transmitted through them to us. Therefore, it is imperative to fill the greatness of Sahaba in our hearts.
Respecting all the Sahabah is necessary, whosoever they may be, as they have seen the Prophet ﷺ with their eyes, accompanied him, extended their help to him and sacrificed to convey the message of Islam to us. This is a core part of a Muslim’s Aqedah. It is mentioned in Al-Aqidat al-Tahawiya,
We love the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺWe do not exaggerate in our love for any of them, nor do we disown any of them. We hate those who hate them or who mention them without good, for we do not mention them except with good. Love for them is a part of religion, faith, and spiritual excellence, and hatred for them is unbelief, hypocrisy, and transgression.” (Al-Aqidat al-Tahawiya, Belief No. 93, p. 20)
It is narrated from Jabir bin ‘Abdullah, he said: “I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying: “The Fire shall not touch the Muslim who saw me, or saw one who saw me.” (Tirmidhi 3858)
Abu Sa`id al-Khudri (ra) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Do not abuse my companions for if any one of you spent gold equal to Uhud (in Allah’s Cause) it would not be equal to a Mudd (a small amount) or even a half Mudd spent by one of them.” (Bukhari 3673; Muslim 2540, 6487)
