Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) in the light of Islam
Allah Ta’ala says in The Quraan,
“Muhammad ﷺis not the father of any of your men, but (he is) The Messenger of Allah and the seal of The Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all things.” (Ahzab 33:40).
In this verse, the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has been described as the “Seal of the prophets” or the “Last of the prophets”. This verse from the Holy Qur’an is the most clear-cut evidence for the belief of “Khatmun-Nubuwwah” (finality of prophethood). This verse is a clear evidence for this belief that there is no prophet after the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
It is thus incumbent upon Muslims to believe that Prophethood has ended with the advent of Muhammad ﷺ. This belief in the finality of Prophethood has been an established belief of the Muslims since the time of the Prophetﷺ. Every time a false prophet has arisen, the Muslims recognised him as false because belief in the finality of Prophethood has been established as part of the Muslim’s fundamental beliefs. Without a shadow of doubt, the finality of Prophethood is something that is an essential belief in the religion of Islam. Hence the rejection of this belief is Kufr and any person who rejects this belief is out of the fold of Islam, no matter what claims he makes to the contrary. In the history of Islam there have been a number of false claimants of prophethood who were outrightly rejected by the Muslim Ummah as apostates and renegades.
The Qadiyani (Ahmadiyya) Cult
The same sect called Qadiyanees prefer to call themselves “Ahmadees”, in association with the name of the founder Mirza Ghulam Ahmed. The name Ahmadees is preferred to trick innocent Muslims into creating a link with the last Prophet of Islam who also had the name of Ahmad (Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam), besides the commonly known name of Muhammad (Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam).
Qadianism is a movement that started in 1900 CE as a plot by the British colonialists in the Indian subcontinent, with the aim of diverting Muslims away from their religion and from their obligations. Qadiyanees are a sect, separate and distinct from Islam, who believe in a liar and imposter by the name of Mirza Ghulam Ahmed, who falsely claimed prophethood after Prophet Muhammad (Sallaho Alaihi Wassallam). The founder of the sect Mirza Ghulam Ahmed was born in a village called “Qadiyan” in Indian Punjab, hence the founder and the group are known as Qadiyanees by association to the founder’s birth place.
It is unfortunate that many of the people who have been tricked into accepting Qadianism (Ahmadiyyat) are unaware of this aspect of the Qadiani (Ahmadi) doctrine. Since the rituals of Qadianism resembles that of Islam and much of their terminology is stolen from Islam, many Qadianis are under the impression that they are following an Islamic school of thought. They continue to blindly send their donations to the Qadiani (Ahmadi) leadership thinking they are supporting Islam, when in reality they are helping a non Islamic cult. For the most part, the followers of Qadianism neither have a good grasp of Islam nor have access to the complete writings of Mirza Ghulam Qadiani – which are mostly written in Urdu — and are not aware of his various claims.
Who was Mirza Ghulam Ahmed?
Mirza Ghulam Ahmad al-Qadiani (1839-1908 CE) was the main tool by means of which Qadianiyyah was founded. He was born in the village of Qadian, in the Punjab, in India, in 1839 CE. He came from a family that was well known for having betrayed its religion and country, so Ghulam Ahmad grew up loyal and obedient to the colonialists in every sense. Thus he was chosen for the role of a so-called prophet, so that the Muslims would gather around him and he would distract them from opposing the English colonialists.
Like all fraudsters of the past, he has been rejected vehemently by the Muslim Ummah and exposed as an imposter, and declared as a disbeliever (kafir) by the leading scholars (Ulama) and the Ummah as a whole.
Ghulam Ahmad began his activities a ‘caller to Islam’ so that he could gather followers around him, then he claimed to be a mujaddid (reviver) inspired by Allaah. Then he took a further step and claimed to be the Awaited Mahdi and the Promised Messiah. Then he claimed to be a Prophet and that his prophethood was higher than that of Muhammad ﷺ.
Among the factors that make Mirza Ghulam Ahmad an obvious Kaafir are the following:
His claim to be a Prophet
His abolition of the duty of striving for Deen (Jihad).
His saying that people should no longer go on Hajj to Makkah, and his substitution of Qadian as the place of pilgrimage.
His anthropomorphism or likening Allaah to human beings.
His belief in the transmigration of souls and incarnation.
His attributing a son to Allaah and his claim to be the son of God.
His denying that Prophethood ended with Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his regarding the door of Prophethood to be open.
How Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) differs from Islam
According to the tenet of their faith, the Qadianis (Ahmadis) are required to study, accept, and follow the works, “revelations” (wahi), and writings of Mirza Ghulam Qadiani. In his books, Mirza Ghulam Qadiani makes the claim that he is in direct communication with God and ordains it upon his followers to believe in “Islam” according to his revelations. We have summarized here some of the differences between Qadianis (Ahmadis) and Muslims. It should be obvious that most of the beliefs instructed by Mirza Ghulam Qadiani contradict verses of the Holy Quran – not to mention hundreds of authentic Hadith and Islamic doctrine.
The following are some of the difference between Islam and Qadianism (Ahmadiyya):
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) is based on the belief that Mirza was an improved second reincarnation of The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) rejects the concept of absolute Finality of Prophethood in Muhammad ﷺ, as confirmed in Quran, Hadith, Sunnah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, Tradition of Companions, the writings of Muslim Scholars and personalities, and concensus of the entire Ummah for almost 1500 years.
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) rejects the concept of completion of the revelations of Allah Ta’ala in the Holy Quran.
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) holds that Mirza Ghulam Qadiani’s Books were on the same level as all prior revelations (Quran, Bible, Torah). In their view, simply following Quran and Sunnah, as Muslims have done since the beginning of Islam, is not a basis for living a righteous life and gaining the pleasure of the Creator.
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) rejects authentic Hadith based on Mirza’s alleged revelations and teaches his personal interpretation of the Holy Quran. Qadiani (Ahmadiyya) leadership has forged several unauthentic translations of the Holy Quran to try to confuse and mislead uninformed individuals.
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) teaches that Jesus(pbuh) had been crucified, but did not die from his injuries. Instead, it advocates the view that Jesus(pbuh) recovered from his injuries, escaped to Kashmir (India), where he lived for another 86 years, and is buried there.
- Whereas Jesus(pbuh) is acknowledged as a great prophet of Allah in Islam, Mirza Ghulam took the liberty of making demeaning and vulgar remarks against him and his honored mother, rejected his miracles, belittled his mission and denied his return before the Day of Judgment.
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) maintains that Mirza Ghulam Qadiani was “the promised Messiah”. The Qadianis (Ahmadis) reject the advent of Jesus Christ(pbuh), son of Mary, as the Messiah, just before the Day of Judgment.
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) teaches that Mirza Ghulam Qadiani was also the promised Mahdi (guided one).
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) teaches that Mirza Ghulam Qadiani was also the expected Hindu lord, Krishna.
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) intolerantly declares the entire mankind, except for those who naively accept the irrational notions and contradictory claims of Mirza Ghulam Qadiani, to be unbelievers and bound for hell. Qadiani leadership has announced all Muslims to be unbelievers and has forbidden its followers from wedding their daughters to Muslims, praying behind Muslims, and offering prayer on their deceased – be it a child or an adult.
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) maintains that Mirza Ghulam Qadiani was superior to all the Prophets(pbut) of Allah(SWT).
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) refers to the companions of Mirza Ghulam Qadiani as Sahaba and his wives as Mother of the Believers (Ummahatul Muminin).
- Qadianism (Ahmadiyya) advances the notion that many verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Mirza Ghulam Qadiani and that many of the praises of Prophet Muhammad(SAW), mentioned in Quran, were really intended for Mirza Ghulam Qadiani.
CONCLUSION
The Beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said,
“My likeness among the prophets is as a man who, having built a house put the finishing touches on it and made it seemly, yet left one place without a brick. When anyone entered it and saw this, he would exclaim, ‘How excellent it is, but for the place of this brick.’ Now, I am the place of the brick: through me the line of Prophets has been brought to completion.”[Sahih-al-Bukhari]
“The Hour will not come till (1) two big groups fight each other whereupon there will be a great number of casualties on both sides and they will be following one and the same religious doctrine (2) about thirty dajjals (liars) appear, and each one of them will claim that he is Allah’s Apostle (3) the religious knowledge is taken away (by the death of religious scholars) (4) earthquakes will increase in number (5) time will pass quickly (6) afflictions and trials will appear (7) Al-Harj (i.e., killing, murders) will increase (8) wealth will be in abundance . . .”[Sahih-al-Bukhari; 9.237]
In the face of such overwhelming evidence in support of the finality of the prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ, the ludicrous claims of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani and his followers, who still regard themselves as Muslims, is absolutely untenable and rejected outright.
The Qadiani cult nowadays is trying, with the help of the enemies of Islam, to obtain sensitive positions in all the places where they live. They are very active in Africa and in western countries. In calling people to their beliefs, the Qadianis use various methods, especially via the media, television and internet. It is incumbent we safeguard our Imaan and the Imaan of the Muslim Ummah from their deviations.
From the above, it is clear that:
Qadianiyyah is a misguided group, which is not part of Islam at all. Its beliefs are completely contradictory to Islam, so Muslims should beware of their activities, since the ‘Ulama’ (scholars) of Islam have stated that they are Kaafirs. [1]
