Is it permissible to use permanent hair dyes?

fatwa-tt October 6, 2021

Question:

Is it permissible to use permanent hair dye?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible to use permanent hair dyes other than the pure black colour[1]. One should ensure all ingredients are halaal.

The use of pure black dye is not permissible for males and females.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
