Question
Is it permissible to listen to the Nasheed titled Salaam Ya Mahdi?
Answer
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
As Muslims, we believe in the Mahdi as it is mentioned in many Ahaadith of the Prophet ﷺ. We believe he will be born towards the end of the world and will establish justice on earth. The Prophet ﷺ gave certain signs which will herald the arrival of this great Imam as well as a detailed description of him. The Prophet ﷺ said, ‘The Mahdi is one of us, from among the people of my household. In one night, Allah will inspire him and prepare him to carry out his task successfully.’ The Mahdi will be a regular person, living a regular life. When Allah Ta’ala wishes for him to emerge as the Mahdi, he will rectify him.
As for the Shia, they believe the Mahdi is Muhammad al-Mahdi, the so-called twelfth Imam, the son of the eleventh imam, Hasan al-Askari, who was born in 255 (hijri) and was supposedly hidden at the age of five. They believe he is still alive but has been in hiding, awaiting the time for his return. They believe that when Imam Mahdi was five years old, he fled from his enemies and went to hide in a cave in the city of Samarra, Iraq. He is still hiding in that cave till this very day, according to Shia Doctrine.
Furthermore, from their concocted beliefs regarding the Mahdi, they believe he (the Mahdi) will resurrect both Abu Bakr and Umar (رضي الله عنهما ) and burn them. They (the Shia), also believe they Allah will resurrect Aisha (رضي الله عنها), thereafter the Mahdi will stone her to death [The Shia has many more concocted beliefs regarding the Mahdi].
Thus, it is clear that there is a difference between the true Mahdi spoken of in authentic Ahadeeth of the Prophet ﷺ and the Mahdi of the Shias, who exists only as a figment of their imagination. [May Allah save us from the evil of the Shias].
Regarding the Nasheed in reference “Salaam Ya Madhi”, it was sung by an Irian Shia artist by the name of Abuzar Ruhi.
And from the beliefs of the Shia, they believe that their Imams can help and assist them. Hence from their deviated and evil practices; instead of saying Ya Allah, they call out Ya Ali Madad, Ya Hassan, Ya Hussain; with the belief that they can hear and assist them and fulfil their needs. This is the same when the call Ya Mahdi.
In conclusion, it will not be permissible to listen to Nasheeds having such contents.
And Allah Ta’aala Knows Best
