Could you shed some information on Downy fabric Softener and all other Downy products, as I saw some time ago that it isn’t permissible to use because of the use of pig incorporated in it?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Downy April Fresh Liquid Fabric Conditioner, and possibly similar Downy products is harām and impermissible to use due to the consumer care explaining that they use beef fat or pork fat depending on availability in the manufacturing of the product. This renders the product najis (impure) according to shari’ah[1].
Care should be exercised and a Muslim must ensure products are free from Haraam ingredients. Bounce Fabric Softener Dryer Sheets and other products also contain Haraam ingredients. One should contact the relevant companies to verify if any animal derived products are used.
