Assalaamualaikum, is brother and sister by same father but different mother mahram? Also is brother and sister by same mother but different father mahram ?
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
A brother or sister who shares a parent with you, either the same father and different mother or different father but same mother is one’s half sibling and Mahram. (Mahram is a person whom one is never permitted to marry because of their close blood relationship, and the rules of Hijaab will not apply).
Note this does not apply for a stepbrother or stepsister, where both blood parents are different. They will not be each other’s Mahram.
