Question:
Is the English Bayan given standing or sitting or is it a Sunnah to stand for the English
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The Sunnah of The Prophet ﷺ when giving Khutbah was to give standing.
Narrated al-Hakam bin Hazn (RA): We attended the Friday prayer with the Prophet (ﷺ) and he (ﷺ) stood leaning on a staff or a bow. [Abu Dawud].
Therefore, is Sunnah to give the Arabic Khutbah standing[1]. One may also adopt this Sunnah of standing when giving the English Bayan before the two Arabic Khutbas. If one chooses to sit due to difficulty etc, there will be harm or sin.
