Using a football with the Saudi Arabia’s flag on it

fatwa-tt January 13, 2017

Question:

Is it permissible to use a football with the Saudi Arabia flag along with other countries flag on it?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The Saudi Arabia’s national flag is green featuring the Shahadah or Kalimah in white Arabic inscription, لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا الله مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله)).

Anything with the name of Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ) written on it, especially the entire Kalimah, must be treated with respect. It is not permissible to use such a football with the Saudi Arabia’s flag inscribed on it.  Alternatively one may remove and properly discard the area with the Kalimah written, and then use the football.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
