Selling frozen goat semen for artificial insemination.

fatwa-tt November 30, 2020

Question:

Assalaamualaikum, hope all’s well. Would it be permissible to sell frozen goat semen?

The process of “artificial” insemination is popular worldwide for cattle, goats sheep etc. what this does is to make the semen from selected stocks with better genetics available for use by a wider cross section of users.

Also because of the difficulty of moving animals across borders by land , air , sea etc this is a more practical and economic solution.

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

It is permissible to sell the frozen goat’s semen, for the process of artificial insemination[1]. The money derived from such sales will also be permissible.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
