Examples of these items are crucification crosses, statues, idols, Diwali\/Christmas cards etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This rule also applies to items which are generally used, except that the symbols of shirk and kufr are displayed on them (i.e printed, painted, engraved, embroidered or attached in any way). If however, it is possible to remove or disfigure those symbols from the items, only then it would be permissible to sell it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Imam al-Bukhari narrates on the authority of Aa\u2019isha may Allaah be pleased with her that:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u0623\u0646 \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0628\u064a \u0635\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0648\u0633\u0644\u0645 \u0644\u0645 \u064a\u0643\u0646 \u064a\u062a\u0631\u0643 \u0641\u064a \u0628\u064a\u062a\u0647 \u0634\u064a\u0626\u0627 \u0641\u064a\u0647 \u062a\u0635\u0627\u0644\u064a\u0628 \u0625\u0644\u0627 \u0646\u0642\u0636\u0647<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThe Holy Prophet \ufdfa would not leave anything in his house on which there was a cross but he would alter it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The reason from this prohibition has nothing to do with the item itself in terms of its contents and ingredients. It is because, by trading in such items, one is directly assisting and promoting evil and shirk, which is forbidden as it goes against the spirit of <em>Tawheed<\/em>. Allah \ufdfb mentions in the Holy Quran:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u0648\u062a\u0639\u0627\u0648\u0646\u0648\u0627 \u0639\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0628\u0631 \u0648\u0627\u0644\u062a\u0642\u0648\u0649 \u0648\u0644\u0627 \u062a\u0639\u0627\u0648\u0646\u0648\u0627 \u0639\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0625\u062b\u0645 \u0648\u0627\u0644\u0639\u062f\u0648\u0627\u0646 \u0648\u0627\u062a\u0642\u0648\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0625\u0646 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0634\u062f\u064a\u062f \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0642\u0627\u0628<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah, indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If however, the items can be used for multiple purposes, it would be permissible to trade it (i.e. it is used for their rituals as well as other things which are permissible).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Regarding the \u201c<em>Diya<\/em>\u201d, the item itself is permissible and can also be used in a wide variety of ways. It can be used as a cup, in fact in many villages in the Indo-Pak subcontinent it is used for drinking tea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>However,<\/strong> in Trinidad the Diya is a shi-aar (symbol and icon) of the Hindus and is specific their culture. It is not used except for their worship and rituals. So much so that the shape of the diya is designed specifically to hold the \u201cwick\u201d in place.
