{"id":755,"date":"2015-07-17T04:22:11","date_gmt":"2015-07-17T04:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fatwa-tt.com\/?p=755"},"modified":"2017-11-09T00:11:56","modified_gmt":"2017-11-09T04:11:56","slug":"etiquettes-of-the-day-of-eid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fatwa-tt.com\/index.php\/etiquettes-of-the-day-of-eid\/","title":{"rendered":"Etiquettes of the Day of Eid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>THE JOYOUS DAY OF EID UL FITR<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Islam, being a complete way of life, has laid out a very balanced approach with regards to our day to day life. Just as it has guided us on matters relating to belief and worship, that form the core of religion, it has also stipulated days of celebration and merriment for us. However, since Islam aims at keeping every individual focused towards its values, it has given guidelines and instructions to that are to be followed on these days of celebration as well. This makes Islam stand out amongst the other faiths; a day of celebration too becomes a form of worship!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In Islam, the concept of celebration is based on a religious achievement. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated as we accomplish fasting in Ramadhan and attain a degree of closeness to Allah Ta\u2019ala.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Companion Anas (Allah be pleased with him) said, \u201cThe Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) migrated to the city of Medina and saw the people celebrating two days of festivities. He said, \u2018What are these two days?\u2019 The people of Medina replied, \u2018They were days of festivities in the pre-Islamic era (jahaliyya).\u2019 Then he said, \u2018Verily Allah has replaced these two days with (what) is better for you\u2014the day of Adha and the day of Fitr.\u2019\u201d [Abu Dawud]<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>Eid<\/em>, in Islam, is a day of joy, thanksgiving, worship, brotherhood, solidarity, and morality. A Muslim should take the advantage of this day to bring himself nearer to Allah, Most High.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">EID PRAYER AND KHUTBAH<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Eid Salah is <em>Wajib (Compulsory)<\/em> on those whom Jumu`ah Salah is <em>Wajib<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Khutbah of Eid differs from the Khutbah of Jumu`ah in two ways:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Firstly, the Jumu`ah Khutbah is a condition for the validity of Jumu`ah prayer whereas the Khutbah of Eid Salaah is Sunnah and it is not a condition for the validity of Eid Salah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Secondly, the Jumu`ah Khutbah will be delivered prior to the Salaah while the Khutbah of Eid salaah will be delivered after the Salaah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>SUNNATS AND MUSTAHAB (DESIRABLE) ACTS OF EID<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To wake up early and engage in worship (<em>Tahajjud<\/em>).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To pray the Fajr with Jamaat in the masjid.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is Sunnah to eat something sweet (preferably dates in amounts of odd numbers) before proceeding for Eid al-Fitr Salah.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To perform Ghusl (bath). The Ghusl should preferably be performed between sunrise and the Eid prayer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To apply fragrance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To brush the teeth using Miswak<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To wear best clothes (or new clothes). With regard to women, they should avoid adorning themselves when they go out for Eid, because they are forbidden to show off their adornments to non-mahram men. It is also haraam for a woman who wants to go out to put on perfume or to expose men to temptation, because they are only going out for the purpose of worship.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To give Sadaqah Fitr on Eid al-Fitr (before proceeding for the prayer)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To <em>walk<\/em> to the place of prayer if possible.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To go to the place of prayer as early as possible and gain the reward of observing the prayer in the first row.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is disliked to perform supererogatory (nafl) prayers before the Eid Salaah in the Eid prayer area or one\u2019s house.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To go to the place of prayer via one route and to return via another route.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To express happiness by displaying obedience and gratitude to Allah.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To smile at meeting a fellow believer<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Offer charity<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is Sunnah Muakkadah for the place of Eid Salah to be in an (<em>Eid Gah<\/em>) plain field.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To continuously read the Takbir at-Tashriq from home till the commencement of the actual Eid Salah.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The words of the Takb\u012br are:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u0627\u064e\u0644\u0644\u0647\u064f \u0623\u0643\u0652\u0628\u064e\u0631\u064f \u0627\u064e\u0644\u0644\u0647\u064f \u0623\u0643\u0652\u0628\u064e\u0631\u064f\u060c \u0644\u0627\u064e \u0625\u0650\u0644\u0647\u064e \u0625\u0650\u0644\u0627\u0651\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647\u064f \u0648\u064e\u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647\u064f \u0623\u0643\u0652\u0628\u064e\u0631\u064f\u060c \u0627\u064e\u0644\u0644\u0647\u064f \u0623\u0643\u0652\u0628\u064e\u0631\u064f \u0648\u064e\u0644\u0650\u0644\u0651\u0647\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u062d\u064e\u0645\u0652\u062f<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>Transliteration:<\/em> \u2018All\u0101hu Akbar All\u0101hu Akbar, L\u0101 Il\u0101ha Illall\u0101hu Wall\u0101hu Akbar All\u0101hu Akbar Wa Lill\u0101hi-al-Hamd.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>EXTENDING EID GREETINGS ON EID DAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On the day of Eid one should extend greetings and good wishes.
