Is it permissible to recite Dua Ahad Nama?<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

As-sal\u0101mu \u2018alaykum wa-rahmatull\u0101hi wa-barak\u0101tuh.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

There is no objection whatsoever in reciting this dua since its meaning is correct and moreover it has been proven from reliable books of Ahaadith. Scholars of Hadith however have differed whether this dua was the actual words and statement of The Holy Prophet \ufdfa or a statement of Abdullah bin Masood (radiyallahu anhu).[1]<\/a> The Majority of scholars mentioned that the correct view is that, this dua is attributed to Abdullah bin Masood (radiyallahu anhu) which is proven through an authentic chain of transmission.[2]<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

But even if we accept it as the statement of Abdullah bin Masood (radiyallahu anhu), it will still have the same status of the proclamations of The Holy Prophet \ufdfa since a statement of such a nature is highly unlikely to be made up by Abdullah bin Masood (radiyallahu anhu), meaning that he must have heard it from the blessed mouth of the Holy Prophet \ufdfa [3]<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

In conclusion, it is permissible to recite this dua without believing in the virtues and merits which is commonly associated with it since it has no basis in the Shari\u2019ah.<\/span><\/p>\n
