Question:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am only child living in abroad for 20 years
My parents are 75+ living in my home-country and calling me back but they know future there is bleak so they don’t push me but there is no one around to take care of my parents.
I am married have 2 young kids.
I am not tight on finances but doesn’t have unlimited funds, shall I move to my home-country with Kids for parents?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parents are a big favour upon their children and they have been given a very high status by Allah \ufdfb. Kindness to parents is compulsory in Islam and children should do their very best to see to the needs of their parents. Allah \ufdfb mentions in various places in the Quran the importance of being kind and dutiful to one\u2019s parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Surah Al Israa: 23, Allah \ufdfb mentions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and do good to parents. If any one of them or both of them reach old age, do not say to them: uff (a word or expression of anger or contempt) and do not scold them, and address them with respectful words”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He \ufdfb also says in Surah an-Nisaa 4:36:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWorship Allah, and do not associate with Him anything, and be good to parents\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And in Surah Luqmaan 31:14, He \ufdfb says<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe commanded man (to be good) in respect of his parents. His mother carried him (in her womb) despite weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. (We said to man,) .Be grateful to Me, and to your parents. To Me is the ultimate return\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are a few main lessons that one can take from the abovementioned verses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Kindness to parents is a command from Allah \ufdfb<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Kindness to parents is second to Tawheed i.e. singling out Allah \ufdfb for worship alone<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Parents should be treated with even more respect and kindness when they reach their old age.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Showing gratitude to parents. To enable us to do that, Allah \ufdfb highlights the different stages of pregnancy, childbirth and weaning. While the mother\u2019s role is clearly mentioned in the last verse cited above, Allah \ufdfb mentions that children should be kind to both of their parents. This is due to the father\u2019s role of seeing to the mother\u2019s needs while during pregnancy and childbirth and seeing to the needs of the mother and the child after childbirth.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    In addition, there are many Hadith wherein Rasulullah \ufdfa mentions the high status of the parents and the importance of being kind and dutiful to them, so much so, the scholars of Hadith have dedicated special chapters and books to the topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
