{"id":2914,"date":"2021-03-10T19:36:24","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T23:36:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fatwa-tt.com\/?p=2914"},"modified":"2021-03-10T19:36:27","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T23:36:27","slug":"permissibility-of-the-oxford-astrazeneca-covid-19-vaccine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fatwa-tt.com\/index.php\/permissibility-of-the-oxford-astrazeneca-covid-19-vaccine\/","title":{"rendered":"Permissibility of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Permissibility of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Muslim, along with full Yaqeen and conviction that sickness and cure is only in Allah\u2019s control, it is also necessary that with Tawkkul (reliance) in Allah one adopts permissible means that Allah has provided for cure. Exercising precaution in such matters and adopting worldly means is from the teachings and Sunnah of The Prophet <strong>\ufdfa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking medication as a cure or a preventative means is not contrary to Tawakkul. It is in fact part of Taqdeer (Allah\u2019s decree) to take medication. (Sunan Ibn Majah-3437)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore a Muslim is duty bound to look after and protect one\u2019s health, if sickness occurs then use those means which are Halaal and through medical expertise and experience, carry a reasonable expectation of cure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In reply to various queries concerning permissibility of taking the COVID-19 vaccine, we emphasize that the decision to vaccinate against COVID-19 is personal and should be taken after considering professional medical advice, one\u2019s personal health, medical history and relevant risk factors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From a Shari\u2019ah and permissibility aspect, relating to the constituents of the vaccine in the light of the available data and statements from many of our senior and reliable Ulamaa, we have concluded the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine is permissible for Muslims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>And Allah Ta\u2019\u0101la Knows Best<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mufti Arshad Ali<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Darul Iftaa, Jaamia Madinatul Uloom (Trinidad)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fatwa-tt.com\"><strong>www.fatwa-tt.com<\/strong><\/a><strong> \/<\/strong><a href=\"www.jaamia.net\"><strong>www.jaamia.net<\/strong><\/a><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
