It is\nimportant to understand which category each act of Salah belongs to. The laws\npertaining to Sajda as-Sahw revolves around only two of these categories viz.\nFardh and Wajib. For this reason we have listed below all the acts belonging to\nthese two categories. If there are any acts of Salah that are not listed below\nit means that it is from the Sunnah\/Mustahab category.<a href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fardh\/Arkaan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>[Mandatory Acts]<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Takbeer (Saying Allahu Akbar to commence\nthe Salah)<a href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Qiyaam (Standing)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Qira\u2019ah (Recitation- to the extent of one\nlong verse or three short verses)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ruk\u2019u (Bowing)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Sajdah (Prostration)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Qa\u2019dah Akhirah (Last Sitting to extent of\nthe recitation of Tashahud)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wajib Acts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>[Necessary\nActs]<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Recitation of Fatiha (in the first and\nsecond Rakah of Fardh Salah)<\/li><li>Recitation of a Surah after Fatiha (in the first and second Rakah of Fardh\nSalah)<\/li><li>Recitation of Fatiha and a Surah in\neach rakah of a non-Fardh Salah.<\/li><li>Qauma (standing erectly after Ruku)<\/li><li>Jalsah (sitting upright between the two\nSajdah)<\/li><li>Itminaan (to\npause in ruku\u2019 &amp;&nbsp; sajdah to the\nextent of one tasbeeh)<a href=\"#_ftn3\">[3]<\/a>\n<\/li><li>Recitation of Tashahud in first and\nsecond siting. <\/li><li>First sitting (duration of Tashahud)<\/li><li>Tasleem (to say <strong>Asalaam or Salaam<\/strong>)<\/li><li>Sequential order of the Fardh acts of\nSalah (e.g. Ruku then Sujood)<\/li><li>Dua of Qunoot (there\u2019s no specific dua\nwhich is considered Wajib)<\/li><li>Takbeer before Qunoot in third rak\u2019ah\nof witr<\/li><li>Extra Takbeers of Eid<\/li><li>Reciting silently in silent Salah &nbsp;and loudly in loud (this is specific to congregational\nSalah)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Juristic Ruling\non these Terminologies [Fardh, Wajib &amp; Sunnah]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If any <strong>Fardh<\/strong> act is omitted the\nSalah will be nullified, regardless of whether it was omitted <strong>intentionally\nor unintentionally<\/strong>. The Salah must repeated. If the Salah time has elapsed\nQadha must be done. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nb:\nIf one mistakenly omits a Fardh act in Salah his\/her Salah will not become\ninvalidated immediately (i.e. the moment it is left out). Amendments can be\nmade if he\/she remembers before the completion of the Salah. Thereafter Sajdah\nas-Sahw would be performed at the end.<a href=\"#_ftn4\">[4]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If any <strong>Wajib<\/strong> act was omitted\nintentionally, the Salah will still be valid except that it is grossly\ndeficient (Makru Tahrimi) and hence should be repeated within the prayer time.\nIf however, the time has elapsed then there is no Qadha. Nb: This deficiency\ncannot be compensated by Sajdah al Sawh<\/li><li>If a <strong>Sunnah<\/strong> action is left out\nthe Salah will still be valid [without the need for Sajdah al Sahw]. <strong>Nb<\/strong>:\nOmitting a Sunnah deprives a person of many rewards.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SAJDAH AS-SAHW BECOMES NECESSARY NAMELY\nDUE TO TWO FACTORS<a href=\"#_ftn5\">[5]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>An unduly delay<a href=\"#_ftn6\"><strong>[6]<\/strong><\/a> of a\nFardh or Wajib act <\/strong><strong>(i.e.\nnot performed in its proper place or time)<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Unintentionally omitting a Wajib act.<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Method of Making Sajdah as Sahw<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the last Rak\u2019ah one would recite\nTashahud only and make one Salaam towards the right, then make two Sajdah\nreciting tasbeeh in each sajdah. Then\nrepeat the recitation of Tashahud<a href=\"#_ftn7\">[7]<\/a>,\nthereafter complete the Salah as one would normally do [i.e. send\nsalutations upon the Prophet \ufdfa , make dua, then give\nSalaam to both sides and thereby complete his prayer].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>50 Rulings &amp; Cases <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If one forgets to make Sajdah as- Sahw after reciting Tashahud, [or after dua or after Salaam] he can still do so.\u00a0 <\/li><li>A person having to make Sajdah as- Sahw gives Salaam with the intention of completing his Salah will not deter him from making the Sajdah as-Sahw.<\/li><li>A person who misses a Rak\u2019ah or more in congregation [Masbooq] will follow his Imam in Sajdah al Sahw [if he performs it]. <strong>Nb<\/strong>: The Masbooq should stand for the completion of his Salah after the second salaam of the Imam. <\/li><li>If a person commits multiple acts, each of which renders Sajdah as-Sahw obligatory, then only the performance of one Sajdah al Sahw will suffice.<\/li><li>If anyone of the factors necessitating Sajdah as-Sahw is carried out deliberately then Sajah as-Sahw would be of no avail and the Salah would have to be repeated (as long as the timing for that Salah has not expired, if expired then there\u2019s no repetition).<\/li><li>If a person omits Sajdah as-Sahw he will have to repeat his entire Salah. <\/li><li>If a person after giving Salaam [with the intention of completion], remembers he has to perform Sajdah as-Sahw, then it is still allowed for him to make the Sajah as-Sahw. He will thereafter re-do the Tashahud and complete the Salah as normal [as long as he did not do an act that nullifies the Salah e.g. speaking, eating etc. <strong>Nb<\/strong>: If he turns away from the Qiblah or walks away he will still be able to make up as long as he did not leave the precincts of the Masjid]<\/li><li>If a Sajdah in Salah was left out, then it can be performed before salaam, except that the last sitting would be repeated (also the recitation of Tashahud), thereafter Sajdah as-Sahw will be performed and then Tashahud will be recited once again, thereafter Tasleem.<a href=\"#_ftn8\">[8]<\/a> <\/li><li>Mistakes in recitation will not render the performance of Sajdah as Sahw.<\/li><li>Reciting Suras in according to its sequence (in salah) is Wajib. If however read contrary to its sequence, it will not necessitate Sajdah as Sahw. If he recited against the sequence, thereafter recollected and abandoned the surah and started another [in accordance to sequence], then this still will not necessitate Sajdah as Sahw. <strong>Nb<\/strong>: One should continue the surah and not abandon it. <\/li><li>If person is reciting a surah thereafter jumps into another surah mistakenly, then there\u2019s no Sajdah.<\/li><li>After the first Salaam, it will not be correct to a new comer to join the Salah of the Imam as the following is terminated with the first Salaam. If however, the Imam has Sajdah as-Sahw to make, then the Iqtidah will not be terminated with the first Salaam [i.e. a new comer may join the Salah.] <\/li><li>If a person started a surah and in the middle of the recitation he forgets [the upcoming verses], thereafter he repeats the surah from the beginning, then there is no Sajdah.<\/li><li>If Sajdah as- Sahw is due upon the Imam and he doesn\u2019t perform it, the followers will not perform it.<\/li><li>If a person, after performing Sajdah as- Sahw performs an act that necessitates Sajdah as Sahw he will not repeat Sajdah as Sahw.<a href=\"#_ftn9\">[9]<\/a> <\/li><li>The Masbooq should stand after the second Salaam of the Imam. If he (masbooq) stands, thereafter the Imam performs Sajdah as Sahw then he (masbooq) should return and join the Imam. If he didn\u2019t then his Salah will still be valid and he will perform the Sajdah as Sahw at the end of his Salah.<\/li><li>Whatever mistake the Masbooq makes after the salaam of the Imam, he will have to perform Sajdah as Sahw.<\/li><li>If the Imam performed Sajdah as Sahw but the Masbooq did not participate thereafter the Masbooq makes a mistake necessitating Sajdah as Sahw then only one will suffice. <\/li><li>If a follower, behind the Imam (Muqtaqi) does an act\/s necessitating Sajdah as-Sahw he will not perform Sajdah as-Sahw at the end of the Salah.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u0648\u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647\n\u0633\u0628\u062d\u0627\u0646\u0647 \u0648\u062a\u0639\u0627\u0644\u0649 \u0623\u0639\u0644\u0645 \u0628\u0627\u0644\u0635\u0648\u0627\u0628 \u0648\u0623\u0633\u062a\u063a\u0641\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0638\u064a\u0645<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mufti<\/strong><strong>\n<\/strong><strong>Kaleem Muhammad<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Darul Iftaa, Jaamia Madinatul Uloom\n(Trinidad)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fatwa-tt.com\"><strong>www.fatwa-tt.com<\/strong><\/a><strong>\n\/<\/strong><a href=\"www.jaamia.net\"><strong>www.jaamia.net<\/strong><\/a><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> or a Wajib act that has no connection to Sajdah as-Sahw which is\nrare such as the recitation of Surahs according to sequence etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a> Takbeer is Fardh except that according to the Hanafi Madhab it is\nconsidered a pre-requisite rather than being an actual part of the Salah. It\nhas been listed under the acts of Salah due to its close connection to Salah in\nthat, the moment the takbeer is uttered the Salah commences. Furthermore, all\nof the conditions pertaining to the validity of Salah applies to the validity\nof Takbeer.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a> Also standing erectly to the extent of one Tasbeeh in Qauma, and\nsitting upright after the first sajdah to the extent of one Tasbeeh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"#_ftnref4\">[4]<\/a> If a sajdah is left out, it can be made up for in the following\nrak\u2019ah after performing the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> sajdah of that Rak\u2019ah.
