The Islamic perspective of Corona Virus and useful guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n To\ndate, China\u2019s National Health Commission\u2019s has recorded 79,257 cases in the\nmainland, and 2,835 deaths. Globally, 6,445 cases have now been confirmed\noutside of China, bringing the total number to 85,702. The virus has spread to\n61 countries and territories. The virus is spreading even more. The\nvirus is now in USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There\nis much speculation as to what has caused the virus. Most researchers believe\nthat the virus may have been passed from bats to another animal either snakes\nor pangolins and then transmitted to humans. This transmission likely occurred\nin the open food markets in Wuhan, China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\ncoronavirus spreads through respiratory vapor. It could spread through a person\nsneezing or coughing around you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n It\nis our belief that every virus, epidemic and sickness is decreed only by Allah.\nAn epidemic does not spread by itself. A Bedouin got up and said, \u201cDon’t\nyou see how camels on the sand look like deer but when a camel with scabies\nmixes with them, they all get infected with scabies?\u201d On that the Prophet <\/em>\ufdfa <\/em>said,\n\u201cThen who conveyed the disease to the first camel?\u201d (Sahih Al- Bukhari: 5775)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n It\nis clear from the above Ahadith that an epidemic\/virus does not independently\nspread. It is decreed by Allah and spreads by the will of Allah. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We\nlive in a world of apparent cause and effect. Allah has created an apparent\ncause for the epidemic\/virus to spread. <\/p>\n\n\n\n During\nthe rule of Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu), a sever plague broke out in Syria (Sham)\nwhich claimed the lives of thousands of people. If a Muslim passes away in a\nplague\/epidemic, he will be considered a Shaheed (martyr).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hereunder\nare some Islamic guidelines on what we should do in our circumstance of the\nCorona Virus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 1.\nCorrect our belief\/ Aqidah:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It\nis our belief that every condition is decreed by Allah. Ali (Radiyallahu Anhu) replied: Make use of Loban, for\nverily it strengthens the heart and enhances the memory. (Al- Mujalash:\n2348)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Loban\nis the resin of a tree, Styrax Benzoin. It is extracted by making an incision\non the stem of the tree; the secreted liquid is collected dried and sold for\nusage. It is the source of Benzoin acid, when burnt, its fumes are used as a\ndeodorant and as an antiseptic in sick rooms and hospitals. The fumigation of\nLoban serves as a good insect repellent, antiseptic and fights epidemics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 5.\nTurn to Allah Ta\u2019ala with Dua and seeking forgiveness (Istighfar) and offer Sadaqah: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n When\nwe experience any calamity, we should address it from a practical dimension as\nwell as from a spiritual dimension. While the world Health Organizations are\nresearching the cause of the Coronavirus and its cure, the Ummat should also\nengage in Dua and seek forgiveness from Allah Ta\u2019ala. This virus could attack\nanyone at any time.
