S<\/strong>ocial M<\/strong>edia a<\/strong>nd t<\/strong>he C<\/strong>irculation o<\/strong>f A<\/strong>h\u0101d\u012bth<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 With the invention of cell phones along with the technological advances in the past two decades, it has become a norm to see messages attributed to the Messenger of All\u0101h \ufdfa being circulated on the internet to thousands of users in a matter of minutes without any mention as to the authenticity of such ah\u0101d\u012bth<\/em>. Many people who circulate such ah\u0101d\u012bth<\/em> may be sincere; however, the science of ah\u0101d\u012bth<\/em> requires specialized skills. It is therefore not appropriate for non-`Ulam\u0101\u2019<\/em> to pick and choose ah\u0101d\u012bth<\/em> and circulate them.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is narrated in the Sah\u012bh <\/em>of Imam Bukh\u0101r\u012b that the Messenger of All\u0101h \ufdfa said:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u0645\u064e\u0646\u0652 \u0643\u064e\u0630\u064e\u0628\u064e \u0639\u064e\u0644\u064e\u064a\u0651\u064e \u0645\u064f\u062a\u064e\u0639\u064e\u0645\u0651\u0650\u062f\u064b\u0627 \u0641\u064e\u0644\u0652\u064a\u064e\u062a\u064e\u0628\u064e\u0648\u0651\u064e\u0623\u0652 \u0645\u064e\u0642\u0652\u0639\u064e\u062f\u064e\u0647\u064f \u0645\u0650\u0646\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0631\u0650<\/span><\/p>\n

Whoever tells a lie against me, then (surely) let him occupy his seat in Hellfire.[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

It is also narrated in the Sah\u012bh <\/em>of Imam Muslim that the Messenger of All\u0101h \ufdfa said:<\/span><\/p>\n

It is enough of a lie for a man to narrate everything he hears.[2]<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The lesson we learn from such ah\u0101d\u012bth<\/em> is that one must be very careful when attributing a phrase or saying directly to the Messenger of All\u0101h \ufdfa without first confirming its authenticity. It is incumbent on us all that we consult reliable `Ulam\u0101\u2019<\/em> before circulating such messages between our online contacts, for how often do we speak without thinking about the consequence of our words?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Messenger of All\u0101h \ufdfa has warned us about such negligence with the following words:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u0625\u0650\u0646\u0651\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0639\u064e\u0628\u0652\u062f\u064e \u0644\u064e\u064a\u064e\u062a\u064e\u0643\u064e\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0645\u064f \u0628\u0650\u0627\u0644\u0643\u064e\u0644\u0650\u0645\u064e\u0629\u0650\u060c \u0645\u064e\u0627 \u064a\u064e\u062a\u064e\u0628\u064e\u064a\u0651\u064e\u0646\u064f \u0641\u0650\u064a\u0647\u064e\u0627\u060c \u064a\u064e\u0632\u0650\u0644\u0651\u064f \u0628\u0650\u0647\u064e\u0627 \u0641\u0650\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0651\u064e\u0627\u0631\u0650 \u0623\u064e\u0628\u0652\u0639\u064e\u062f\u064e \u0645\u0650\u0645\u0651\u064e\u0627 \u0628\u064e\u064a\u0652\u0646\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0645\u064e\u0634\u0652\u0631\u0650\u0642\u0650<\/span><\/p>\n

A slave of Allah may utter a word without thinking whether it is right or wrong, and due to it he may slip down in the fire as far away as the distance equal to that between the east.[3]<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 While words of wisdom may flow from anyone\u2019s mouth, it does not necessitate that such words are from the mouth of the most blessed of all creation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Shaykh `Abdul Muhsin al-`Abb\u0101d states in his commentary of Sunan Ab\u012b D\u0101w\u016bd<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Every beautiful statement cannot be labeled as a had\u012bth because fabricators (of ah\u0101d\u012bth) take words of wisdom and attach a (false) chain to them (in order to pass it off as a had\u012bth). Therefore, it is incorrect to say for every beautiful statement, \u201cThese are the words of the Messenger <\/em>\ufdfa<\/em>.\u201d How many beautiful words of wisdoms do we find where the fabricators have appended a chain of narration to them and attributed it to the Messenger of All\u0101h <\/em>\ufdfa<\/em>?[4]<\/strong><\/a> <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 So let us take a lesson and utilize it in our online world and let the words of `Al\u012b \u0633 ring in our ears before we press that \u201csend\u201d button:<\/span><\/p>\n

When I relate the ah\u0101d\u012bth of All\u0101h’s Messenger <\/em>\ufdfa<\/em> to you, then it is more beloved in my eyes that I would rather fall from the sky than attribute something to him falsely.[5]<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
