I bought my wife a platinum diamond ring a while ago, and would like clarification if platinum wedding ring is permissible for women to wear? I have heard from various non-qualified sources that it may not be permissible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

As-sal\u0101mu \u2018alaykum wa-rahmatull\u0101hi wa-barak\u0101tuh.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Platinum (Pt) is a naturally occurring element normally described as the gray-white transition metal.[1]<\/a> Rings made from platinum are normally made out of pure platinum metal and not alloys.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Shari\u2019ah, a woman may only wear a silver or gold ring, hence it is not permissible for a woman to wear a platinum ring.[2]<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

It would be permissible to sell the platinum ring and purchase another ring.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alternatively, you may get the ring silver or gold plated. It would then be permissible for you to wear it).[3]<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
