Can A male lead women only in Salah?

fatwa-tt April 7, 2015

Question:

Can I lead my mom,  Or mom an aunt or aunties in salat A line, no men

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible for a man to lead in jamaa’ah (congregation) his mom, wife or aunties etc. even if there are no other men present.[1]

The woman should pray behind her husband of son etc, he should stand in front in one row and the females should stand in another behind him.

It is best for a man to perform Salah with Jamaa’ah in the Masjid. If he misses the Jamaa’ah in the Masjid, he should perform Salah together with his family.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
