Selling impermissible products to non Muslims.

fatwa-tt August 3, 2020

Question:

as salaamu aliakum. is it permissible to sell a product that may contain a non halal by product? The product is not targeted for Muslim customers. As well the company has no affliction with the muslim community.(no customers know that the company is owned by muslims)

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is not permissible to sell a haram item or an item containing any Haram ingredient, regardless if the consumer is Muslim or not. Selling impermissible items to Non Muslims is also Haraam.

Any monies from the sale of impermissible items will be unlawful and Haram income.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
