Question:
Assalaamu ‘Alaikum.
I wanted to know if our Salah will be valid with clothes that have words printed on them. Here I am referring to the brand names that are printed on undergarments, inner wears and inside the tops and bottoms which are usually inconspicuous.
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
If the brand names contain words only, then Salaah will be valid when wearing them.
However some brand name logos contain images or outlines of animate objects in them. Care should be taken not to wear such clothing with pictures of animate objects, in salaah or out of salaah.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Angels (of Mercy) do not enter a house where there are (animate) pictures.” [Bukhari]
